The History:

In 2008 World War III resulted in a massive nuclear strike of all the world's atomic bombs. Nuclear winter followed. While some third world countries weren't much affected economically or technologically, the rest of the world was hit horribly. Widespread death meant loss of electricity and technology everywhere. In addition to the bombs and radiation came the electromagnetic blasts large enough to wipe out whole cities... and at the exact same time came a solar flare with an EM burst that scrambled the earth's protective magnetic fields and gave way to large doses of gamma radiation. Whole populations were decimated. Panic abounded. People didn't know what hit them.

Now that the world is beginning to calm down the few places in the so-called devloped world that have "game" societies such as the Society for Creative Anachronism or Amtgard, New England Roleplaying Organization, the International Fantasy Gaming Socity, the Rendezvouers, the Black Powder Society, and other such groups have begun to draw together their kingdoms and small territories. Native American tribes, Survivalists and some churches such as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also have drawn together into groups large enough to defend themselves against the various gangs of thieves and troublemakers that band together in such times of strife.

The definitions of people have changed, though. With the various radiations -- both nuclear and gamma -- that came from the war and the solar flares, the people of the world couldn't avoid going through some major changes. Even those who came out into radiation they thought was safe were being changed physically. Gamma radiation caused psionic mutations while nuclear radiation caused physical mutations. Monsters grew out of the latter while super powers grew out of the former. Everyone who survived eventually grew psionic powers of one sort or another, while only those who had the worst of luck got the worst of physical mutations.

It is time for our people to form bonds and alliances, to grow together and to take back the world the large governments stole from us and give it back to our children and thier children.

It is time for us to come out and become Nuclear Knights.
